Auditions: Jack and the Beanstalk

Sleaford Little Theatre

This year's panto, as many of you know by now, will be Jack and the Beanstalk and involve the usual suspects, the characters I mean, although it probably applies to the cast and crew as well! Having said that, I hope new members will come along and join in too.

Even if someone doesn’t get a principal part, we will need villagers etc. and there are songs for them to sing along with some of the principals.

As for the principals, solos will be required by Jack, the Princess and the Dame, although I hope there will be enough of a chorus to provide support and the songs will be reasonably short.

Some songs are sung just by 2 or 3 people, and I’ve tried to pick music that is familiar and easy to learn and sing. We’ll have some weekend rehearsals for the singing and dancing, hopefully over the summer.

Below are the pieces that I would like people to have a go at during the audition and Alec will provide a simple karaoke backing track.

  • For the Dame: I’m a Woman by Bette Midler
  • For the Princess: On My Own from Les Mis.

If you'd like to see a copy of the script before the auditions or if you can’t make the date, please contact me, and I’ll arrange another audition.

Auditions will take place on Wednesday 13th June at 7:30 pm at the Sleaford Playhouse.
